Its a region between Nevada and Arizona, that's strictly under government security/control. The US government runs tests there on military weapons, and other forms of weaponary that yes, CAN BE USED IN OUTER SPACE. Its also an area that a=has been known to attract aliens. They have found 3 real ones so far, ON the actual land, and they are being kept somewhere near Are 51. (They're dead now, of course.)

The Groom Lake facility is a flight and weapons testing area in southern Nevada adjacent to the Nevada Test Site. The "Area 51" designation comes from the fact that the Nevada Test Site (where nuclear devices were tested through 1992) is divided into administrative areas.
No aliens, no reverse technology...just testing aircraft weapons systems.

an awesome video game in which I can destroy EVERYONE here. I've held the top five rankings for 4 straight years in a very busy arcade center in north houston. there where even fights and arguments with people that tried desperately to compete with my score. I would only play at night though when my buddy closed the store because I didn't want to be involved with the fights during the day.
truly crazy I tell ya.

the guy shown playing the game has already screwed things up real good. your not supposed to kill anything except for the first 3 team mates on your screen, then all scores after that is worth 4X more.

Area 51 is a remote tract of land in the southwestern portion of Lincoln County in southern Nevada in the western United States. Situated at its center, on the southern shore of a large salt lake, is a large military airfield, one of the most secretive places in the world. The base's primary purpose is to support development and testing of new military aircraft and to analyse foreign aircraft and weapons systems.
The base lies within the United States Air Force's vast Nevada Test and Training Range. Although the facilities at the range are managed by the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, the Groom facility appears to be run as an adjunct of the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert, around 160 miles (260 km) from Groom (AFFTC homepage), and as such the base is known as Air Force Flight Test Center
The intense secrecy surrounding the base, the very existence of which the US Government barely acknowledges, has led it to become the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and UFO folklore.

A military installation in Nevada. The U-2 and SR-71 spy planes were tested there in the past. It is believed that new unmanned aerial vehicles are being tested there now, but of course that is rumor, since it is a secret.
