My favorite is Lemon and vanilla scratch cake with Lemon icing and topped with cherries. I make it myself and have been told it is delicious. A friend even used one for his wedding cake. I didn't tell him that my cat ate about a third of one of the layers. I just filled it in with icing.

Wally you'll understand this. There is a bakery in Fair Oaks Village. that has the most wonderful Italian Rum Cakes and St Honore cakes you will ever eat. They used to have a bakery in San Francisco, that was famous, the owner retired and moved to Sacramento, then they re-opened a bakery/cafe in June. They are to DIE for.

For store-bought, I really like the Apple Cinnamon Bundt Cake.

For homemade, I love Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese icing. Walmart makes a good one too.

My third favorite is Italian Cream Cake. Yummy. Stop asking these sweet questions, I get the empty salivating feeling in my mouth.

Homemade vanilla cake with homemade vanilla icing. A close second is the pistachio/chocolate coffee cake from Kraft Canada's recipes.

I like lemon cake, too. Also vanilla cake with vanilla icing. Whether it is store bought or home made is ok with me. I can't eat too much cake, though, because I am diabetic. Just small slices..

I'll join the carrot cake gang. Pineapple upside down cake runs a close second. Homemade, of course. There is Boston Cream Pie which I think counts as a cake.

I've heard that the Decadent one was the very best, and haven't heard bad reviews about any smells. If the raisins are in there separately, toss them in a little bag with some flour, to coat them, and they won't sink (or just add extras). Don't use olive oil, unless you want to have a slight olive flavor to the cake..... Sorry I'm not a better help:) I've always made them from scratch

I'm not much of a cake eater, but my mother used to make an apple raisin spice cake with penuche frosting that was my favorite. Haven't had it in years. The next closest thing is my mother in law's fruit cocktail cake, but she doesn't put frosting on it.

Then lemon cheese cake, and pineapple upside down cake.

All of the above plus yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting, thickly applied, and coconut cake. Homemade, of course.

The best, best, best, best cake I ever had came from my high school cafeteria. They made it in three flavors, chocolate, yellow, and marble, but it was unlike anything else I've ever had. It wasn't sweet-sweet and it had a dry crumb to it. I'm a pretty experienced baker but I haven't been able to duplicate that. I'm sure it was a mix, but what a mix!!

Double layer Chocolate cake, chocolate frosting with cherry pie filling in the center.

I think it's a Black Forest cake. Made it for my daughter's birthday just the other day.

YUmmmmmmmmmmm

My version of Black Forest Cherry cake, anyway.
