J J The Fake, Hoopfan, & etc,
Bird was to old?

1990 he was 33
1991 he was 34
1992 he was 35
Larry Bird's 90's resume:
1990 All-NBA 2nd Team
1990 All-Star
1990 24.3 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 7.5 apg
1991 19.4 ppg, 8.50 rpg, 7.2 apg
1991 All-Star
1992 20.2 ppg, 9.60 rpg, 6.8 apg
1992 All-Star
1992 Olympic Champ

Jordan won titles in:
1996 he was 33
1997 he was 34
1998 he was 35
Jordan won NBA Titles, Finals MVPs, League MVPs, Scoring Titles, & etc at the same age that Bird was playing in the 90's. So try something better then Bird was to old & passed his prime! MJ was just that good!

Magic was old?...LMFAO!

90 he was 31
91 he was 32
96 he was 37
If MJ won at 33-35 then the great Magic should have been able to win at 31-32. No Excuses!

BTW,
Magic Johnson
1990 NBA MVP
1990 All-Star
1990 Played in the Western Conference Championship
1991 All-Star
1991 Western Conference Champ (when MJ destroyed him!)
1992 Olympic Champ
1992 All-Star MVP

Anyways, you guys need to stop making excuses! Magic & Bird was still in their prime & on top of their game in the 90's. If they were washed up they wouldn't have been all-stars, league mvps, olympic champs, & etc. And note, they were both at an age that MJ was winning titles! MJ won his last title at 35!

NO EXCUSES!

THE 90's WERE TOUGH & MJ RULED!

MICHAEL JORDAN WAS THE GREATEST!

Bird didn't have great teamates?...LMFAO!

I recall Perish, McHale, D. Johnson, Reggie Lewis, D. Brown, K. Gamble, Brian Shaw, & Rick Fox playing with Bird in the 90's! No Excuses!

Go Patriots,
Kobe wasn't a rookie in 98 or 99! No Excuses!

And Shaq had someone better then Kobe. Shaq had a PRIME Penny!

BTW, in The 2006 NBA Finals Shaq proved that he didn't need Kobe to win! No Excuse!

MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GREATEST AND HE HAD THE 90'S ON LOCK AND THAT'S WHY THOSE OTHER PLAYER DIDN'T WIN!

MyKill,
thanks for explaining that Magic & Bird didn't have longevity like The Greatest Of All Time Michael Jordan did! Don't you know that longevity is apart of being great? And if injuries are the accuse for Magic & Bird then don't be a hypocrite & stop talking about D-Wade then! BTW, why should I except Magic & Bird excuse for not winning in the 90's if you & the MJ haters can't except what kept MJ down in the seasons that he didn't win? No Excuses! MJ just STUMPED them in the 90's SUCKA!

LARRY BIRD SUCKS!

I see where you're going with the competition aspect and I would agree in part. The Western conference has been very strong for the last decade with the Mavericks (what is it like 10 straight 50+ win seasons?), the Spurs (obviously), the go-go Suns through the middle of the term, the Blazers / Kings in the earlier part of the decade etc. The 'Shaq argument' has never held water with me. From '00 to '02 when they won those titles, Kobe averaged 25 / 5 / 5 and was the best perimeter player in the league, hands down. These are numbers that aren't too far off what Jordan was doing as the #1 guy on the Bulls (Pippen 19/6/6 very roughly as #2 for the 6 rings) and Kobe was playing behind Shaq as option 1A. Why do people assume that these are 'Shaq's rings'. I'm pretty sure Shaq wouldn't have them without Kobe and I'm also sure that Shaq's never made it to the championship round without a perimeter star (Penny, Kobe, Wade)... in fact the 'Shaq's' Lakers first made the finals when Kobe had fulfilled most of his potential and turned into the star that everyone thought he'd be. Shaq never carried them there prior to this. Kobe has been to the finals 7 times in his 14 seasons in the league which is incredible. He may've lost to Detroit and Boston but can anyone honestly say that that Celtics team that beat them (and they subsequently just beat in June) isn't far better than any of the teams that Jordan beat? Kobe may not be as great a player as MJ overall (in my opinion he doesn't commit as much on the defensive end for the full game) but he certainly deserves to be in the discussion as one of the all-time greats.

On Magic . . . .

With James Worthy and Byron Scott injured, Magic and the Lakers lost to the Bulls in the 91' NBA Finals.

Magic was on the injured roster because of HIV for much of the '91-'92 season. The All Star game was one of those few games Magic played during that season and his teammates and opponents cheered (some may say patronized) him which is why he won the All star MVP. He's inclusion on the 1992 Dream team was token, send off gift to him.

The fat and rusty and under heavy AIDS medication Magic that played in the 1996 Playoffs, was simply an advertising tool. Magic is playing power forward full time. They lost against Hakeem and the Rockets in the 1st rund of the Playoffs. No shame losing to the defending champions.

On Bird . . . .

In 90-91, thats when his chronic back problems went serious. Larry missed 22 games (McHale missed 14 because of his foot problems). The team also had a disruptive coaching change. IIRC, the Pistons eliminated the Celtics in the Playoffs.

In 91-92, Bird missed 37 games due again to his back problems and iirc, only played on 8 Playoff games (Kevin Mchale was out for a total of 56). The Celtics was eliminated by the Cavaliers because Bird missed 4 out of 7 games.

Except for magic in 90-91, Bird and Magic could not possibly put up a decent challenge against Jordan and the Bulls because their body would not allow it, even though their age would seem to suggest that theyre still capable.

Why did you left out the fact that Bird and magic were injured for much of the 90's?
________________________
Oh c'mon youre making it seem that Bird and Magic only had a sprain or knee injury that could be cured with a few months rest and would be back in tip-top shape afterwards. No. Both Bird and Magic had a serious debilitating injury/sickness, the permanent kind that impairs a player's ability to play ball. Bird already had surgery done on his back in the offseason but it didnt fix anything. He still missed a lot of games and needless to say, Magic has got to learn to live with the fatty side-effects of his AIDS medication if he still want to survive.

Bird and Magic had career ending injuries in the 90's, not the ordinary wear and tear kind, and while they still try to play, its evident that theyre not on top of their game and would hardly qualify as decent challengers to Jordan and the Bulls.

If you think that Jordan takes pride in beating a guy who could barely stretch his back and a guy who couldnt control the sideeffects of his medication, you'd be wrong.

And i never use injuries so and so to diss Wade or Jordan, although i do knock Wade's 2006 Finals performance because he ridiculously receive a total of 97(!) FT attempts from the refs in that Finals series. Wade was awarded 18, 25, and 21 freethrow attempts in three crucial victories for the Miami Heat. In those three games, the Heat defeated the Dallas Mavericks by margins of two points, one point, and three points. Its ridiculous because ENTIRE TEAMS normally average around 25FTA per game.

C'Mon that's an obvious answer, and unfair.

Yes without a doubt Jordan dominated the 90's but Bird was out of his prime and done, and the Celtics had a handful of inexperienced players.

Magic- Was also getting into that position when a player gets out of his prime, and the plays they ran with the new coach weren't that fast break theme. They were sit and set a play and see if it works. Worthy was injured in the Finals when they played Jordan (not that "that" would of made such a difference)

Kobe-Too young.

Shaq-????

You present a valid point, but Magic and Bird were up there in age and didnt have the guys around them they had in the 80's. Shaq was tryin to do it with Penny. and Kobe didnt have Shaq.

No its not because the 90's were tough, its because the majority of the 90's was a rebuilding stage getting players like AI, Kobe, Shaq, and many more, no one was dominant except the Bulls, thats because they did there rebuilding in the 80's

They probably didn't win because they couldn't get over the shock of watching you waxing Jordan's knob. Damn, it's true. Jordan's affair with you is why Juanita is taking him to the cleaners.

Then after Kobe finished bending you over a chair in Eagle, CO you haven't been good for anything but these pathetic posts.

Kobe was "Too young" and "Developing"....( you know just like MJ was his first SEVEN YEARS)....ummmmm....

Magic lost his "sense too prove something" after going to the Finals practly every year he played!!!!...

and Larry Legend also lost his "sense too prove something as a basketball player" (after all those years of sweeping the Bulls , who could blame him?) but really wanted to leave the Celtics and be a GM of another team!....oh wait?..he went to Indiana and turned that team around and led them to the Finals.....what did MJ do in Washington??????....that's what I thought!.......now get back in my 40 oz pocket .....you little midget ...lmao...2EZ!
