my coachh gave my team each a subject. we have to write a essay on how that subject and basketball are involved.. so how is basketball involved in math?

Physics...you have to measure UR shot and throw the correxct distance. The court and its length....................................................

Statistics is the easiest way.
You can have the angles to the hoop, and the curve of the shot too. (When you're shooting you actual do the math in the head about how much distance and force you have to put into a shot to make the shot, so thats physics and math)

you can do the whole arch in shot crap or you can go the easy route and just use %'s... shot percentage, win percentage, free throw percentage and so on... it'll help when it comes to finding out another player strength and weaknesses, for example: if someone is a good free throw shooter (don't foul them late in a close game) vs. some won who is a bad free throw shooter (foul them late in a close game) . stuff like arch and distance can't really apply because it continuously changes in every shot... especially if someone shots straight rather than an arches their shot, or if they have someone running at them and the have to adjust their shot depending on distance and height of the defender... so it varies. just try percentages. its way easier.
