If you're fine with plugging it in every 30 minutes, breaking the screen by touching the thing, having bacon for fingers after using it, go for it. IF you pay through paypal you're protected by them, the issue is that it's an unlocked phone so apple won't replace it if you do get something other than described, buy a non- unlocked one off of ebay and then you'll be protected and it will all still be legal, then get it unlocked once you confirm you got what you payed for.

Depends. If it's from Asia...NO.
If they want anything but Paypal...NO.

Check all the feedback. See if they have an actual storefront or if they're just a business run out of an apartment.
See how long they've been on Ebay and what they have been selling.
Are they in the same country, province, state that you are in?

There are lots of warnings about buying electronics on Ebay. We have bought a PS1, Wii, digital camera and phones.

How-ev-er.
Each seller we bought from we made sure was in our own country so we could go after them if they scammed. We made sure they were an actual "store" OR had been on Ebay selling electronics for a long time and with excellent feedback. We made sure to use MC on Paypal (American Express has a deal with Paypal and they will NOT help you if you have trouble. Mastercard will.) We made certain they were selling AND shipping from our home country. We actually spoke to some of the sellers on the phone before purchasing or bidding.

Then, before the deal was concluded we had all the seller info..address, etc. and a confirmed method of traceable shipping. After that, we watched the trace info through USPS or Canada Post and kept in contact with the seller. We also watched the feedback for any sudden negatives that might start appearing to indicate that the seller had suddenly absconded with buyer money. We've seen that happen once before but thankfully we weren't the buyers!

**Finally, if the item is new the seller should be able to provide you with the warranty. If he can't, walk away.

*Watch out for sellers who claim to be in the US or Canada when they are really shipping out of China or some other location. Go to advanced search and ask for detailed information on the seller's address and phone number. Ask the seller if they are really selling AND shipping out of the US or Canada. If they aren't...walk away.

Lastly, conduct ALL your pertinent conversations through the Ebay console..and save the messages. That way you have proof for Paypal and Ebay if something goes wrong. The phone calls are just you putting the seller on notice that you are a vigilant buyer, in case he's not on the level. You are also confirming his location and the authenticity of his phone number.

You need to have all of your ducks in a row before taking a risk with electronics on Ebay. We've done it, but we've been verrrry careful and patient. Sometimes it's just better to walk to the store and buy the item outright and pay the extra dollars for security. Also consider the time you need to spend verifying that the seller is reputable and decide if it's worth it.

In our case it was, as we got a Wii for a good deal when no one else could get one. We also got an excellent unused, state of the art digital camera from a liquidator.

Pros and Cons. Just be careful.

(BTW the poster who said, "rtry it if theirs a problem write a bad review and complain to ebay and you get your money back" is WRONG. You don't always get your money back and it's a lonnng frustrating process. If the seller took off and drained his/her Ebay/Paypal account there is no money to get back! It takes months sometimes as you have to file a claim and wait. If you were the dupe and can't prove it, you get Nada. Sure you can leave negative feedback for the seller but then he can leave bad feedback for you too, so you are no further ahead. No money, no product and a retaliatory feedback comment that lowers your percentage. You never buy thinking Ebay will just get your money back if it doesn't work out. It's not that easy. Trust me.)
