ok so i bought this ram?

Question

i bought this ram for my dell dimension 2400 which uses pc3200 ram but when i put it in it started making this loud beep and all of a sudden my screen wouldnt turn on

so what is the ram like faulty or something cause i have bought ram before and this never happened to me.

Sounds like bad RAM to me, or you might not have it seated correctly. Double check your module. If you have more than one chip, try it with one of them at a time.

I agree with the person above me. You might try reseating the ram or maybe swapping the sticks of ram around and putting them in different slots than they're currently in. Maybe try removing all your old ram and putting in just the new 1GB stick in either slot to confirm that it is bad. That ram you bought should work with your computer, there's no incompatibility there.

That is the right type of RAM, problem most likely is that you just got a bad stick. I would suggest trying a return.
