My car jerks forward usually when i am trying to turn. And if i am at a read light or stop sign it usually hestites and then jerks forward. It's so embarrassing. oh and it also somethings when it's really bad the car decides it wants to roll backwards when i am at say a red light or something. Any answers will help thanks.

Oh it's a 98 ford contour with 128,000 miles on it i so hope it's not the transmission but i hear that transmissions go out around 100,000 miles.

it usually jerks when i am going rather slowly not anything over about 15 mph. when i am on the highway way it's drives fine.

You forgot to mention what kind of car this is!!!!! that's important. You might need a tune-up, a new engine or trans mount, and/or a transmission fluid and filter change. I wouldn't assume anything until you have it professsionally looked at. Get several opinions and estimates,. Good Luck!!!

when your driving and accelerating does it take a long time for your auto transmission to shift to next gear thats a good sign of needing to be fixed and the jerking is a sign thats its older but not needing to be repaired maybe have a mechanic check the transmission fluid etc...

sounds like it is low on fluid, have someone who knows how to check the fluid level, next depending on the year of the car, it could be a sticking valve in the valve body or a solenoid going out....if it is not low on fluid, try adding some "lucas transmisson treatment" to it.....if that doesnt do it, maybe trans rebuild time

I would say that you need a good tune-up by the way you are describing the problem.
