I've already looked at local craft shops, including Pearl Paint, U-trecht, A.C. Moore and Michael's. No one had anything bigger than 1 1/2". I've also tried spot-checking woodcrafter sites. Please help!

Home Depot and probably other lumber stores will cut wood to the customer's specifications. Often there is excess wood that the customer doesn't want. The store has a section of the "left over" wood and sells it at bargain prices. I needed a large amount of plywood and was able to buy a bunch of the "left over" pieces for less then $4.00 total.... a lot less than full price... and that included having the store cut the wood to my dimensions. Home Depot (where I live) charges $1.00 a cut plus the cost of the wood. Happy hunting.

I would try all the local lumber yards. You can talk to someone there and they may accomodate you with cheap scrap pieces. What they throw away may be perfect for your needs!!
