Factor x+4 from 2x+8 in the numerator. Then you have 2(x+4) / x+4. The x+4 cancels resulting in 2.

These were always odd, and the way people suggested was handy. However a way that might help make future work easier is this, what is we said that y=x+4.
then we see that the denominator is y
(2x+8)/(x+4)=(2x+8)/y

now we want to get rid of the highest power x, in this case, just the 2x. To do this we see that
2(x+4)=2*x+2*4=2x+8 = 2y, by distributing the 2.

then subtracting 8 from each side we get,
2x=2y-8

So, ( [2y-8] +8 )/( y)=( 2y - 8 + 8)/y = 2y/y

since there is a y in the numerator and denominator if we simplify we can divide both by 'y' and thus: 2y/y=2/1=2

2x + 8 / x + 4 =
2(x + 4) / x + 4 factored
The (x + 4) in the numerator and the (x + 4) in the denominator cancel each other out, leaving you with the answer of
2

I suppose you mean (2x + 8) / (x + 4)

(2x + 8) / (x + 4)
= 2(x + 4) / (x + 4)
If x + 4 ≠ 0, then dividing numerator and denominator by (x + 4),
2(x + 4) / (x + 4)
= 2.

2x+8/x+4=2
that is because 2x+8=2(x+4)
thus, 2x+8/x+4=2(x+4)/x+4. the x+4s cancel, leaving 2.

2x+8/x+4. 2x-1x=1x, or x. 8-4=4. So the answer is x+4. Since your dividing and you have the xs, you subtract the the bottom by the top, or the other way. I get confused. Either that or 2. The first way i did is different. I dont know if this is the distributive property or not.

OK

2x+8 / x+4; factor out the 2 in the numerator
=2(x+4) / x+4 ; hmmm..... now the x+4 cancels out
=2 /1
=2

So the answer is 2

Hope that helps.

2x+8 = 2 ( x+4)
2(x+4)/(x+4) =2 ( the two brackets cancel each other.
