This is a follow up to a question I asked several months ago.

As I predicted the focus would not be about the war, but rather on the economy or other issues that are popular with the current polls.

In my opinion, both Democrats and Republicans are doing the country wrong with their do nothing, blame everyone else attitude.

Massive Man below:

Agreed, however when it is all said and done, I predict that one party will be in control of the Congress and the other party in control of the White House after the 2008 election cycle.

Throught history, the nation is better off with a divided government. Both Democrats and Republicans have done more harm than good when they were in control of the Congress and the White House.

We won the war a long time ago, ending the spending is whats happening now, and how do you report on that.
The war is old news, we are exhausted and bored.
No one wants us there but Haliburton and Blackwater, its the money.
I can understand that it takes time to do the logistics of getting out of a country half a world away.
The Democrats never said as a group that they would leave on the day they got elected.
People are worried about their ability to pay their bills, just today we heard there is going to be a layoff here of twenty people, who knows whats next? Home prices down, interest rates unchecked, energy and food prices climbing daily. No wonder people are uneasy.

Actually, I remember them talking more about changing the course than about actually ending it. Bush did change the course to one that is working somewhat better. I think that was because the democrats won in such numbers in 2006, but not because of anything they have done since. I think we will be phased out as Iraq's security takes over for the most part, although we will be there in some part for a long time.

If I remember correctly, Dingbat Bush was sent two bills that among war spending established timetables to end the war. "The War President" vetoed both as he will do with the current bill on his desk.

The public in large is tired of this useless "war" and are also worried about their jobs, future for their kids, losing their home, et al. It is natural for candidates to speak about what the polls show concerns the public the most.

If it were up to me, I would order an end to the war today, this very minute if for no other reason that this military action is illegal under the U.S. Constitution.

Well, Bubba...I'm agree with you to a point. The Dems were elected to Congress to stop what the Cons were doing, Unfortunately, when you need a 2/3's majority, and the Dem's only have 51%, well, it doesn't take a rocket scienctist to figure everytime a good thing is brought up in congress, the other side dashes it down and grinds it with a boot heel. Hopefully, this will end in about 369 days, eh?

Politicians now are just in it for themselves. Time for a REAL third political party and the only one that has a real chance is the Libertarian Party. Sorry folks but the Green Party is just socialism in disguise.

With the slim majority in the Senate, and Bush in the White House, the Democrats haven't been allowed to take the steps necessary to end the war.

hey they tried but guess what their efforts got shot down by bush and his pen and when they tried to overide his veto the 49% of congress thats republican voted not to overide not because it wasn't in the best interest of the country but because of partisanship,to thank bush for not vetoing none of their bills while they contolled congress

I would hope they would! We get out, we get blown up, simple as that.

OF COURSE, the focus is ALWAYS on the feely-good issues wit the Dems, it's what they do best.

GW screwed up, is still screwing up but he's still better than Hillary or Obama
