My suggestion would be Mandalay Bay, it is beautiful and since you are going in April you can take full advantage of their pool which is by far the best on the strip! It is a wave action pool and the area you sit in is beach sand...so its like being at the beach without the sharks!! hahaha If you are adventurous they also have a hidden pool that is topless!!! :oO They have a great fenced off area where you can rent private cabanas also..which are really cool and you can order a poolside pedicure and massage if you really want to pamper yourself!!! I live in Southern California and I used to use vegas for my weekend getaway all the time, so Ive stayed at several different hotels.....and I found that for what I wanted (a beautiful place with an amazing pool, decor and atmosphere) Mandalay Bay fit the bill. They also have a great day spa there, a killer shark reef and aquariums, great restraunts and beautiful rooms!! (and i am pretty picky when it comes to my getaway spots!) As far as a rental car, they are really nice to have since you can valet park everywhere for free..and you can get anywhere you want whenever you want for a lot cheaper than a taxi...but if you can afford it, taxis are a lot easier to just hop in and go with no worries about traffic or drinking and driving but the driving everywhere can really add up cost wise. The clubs in Vegas really change week to week on the new hot spot....the best thing to do is ask the concierge at your hotel where is best that week and they can normally hook you up with no line or discounts. A really cool bar you have to check out is the Ghost Bar at the Palms...its on the roof and has a glass floor outside you can look down.....its a cool bar to hang out in if you've never been (not really a club, more of a pre club bar idea). And club Rain is right downstairs...that club has been around a while but its really nice and still a lot of fun. You also may want to check out the Blue Man Group show.....its really different and worth it to check out...and for a great place to eat try the Luxor Steakhouse, its connected by sky tram to Mandalay Bay so you can just cruise over there to eat dinner and gamble. Hope you have a great time!!!! :)

I live in Vegas. If you stay on the strip you really wont need a rental car. Everything you need, Malls, clubs, restaurants, theaters are all within a few blocks. Hotels like the Belagio and the Wynn will have the best accommodations as well as the biggest price but all the major hotels on the strip will have what your looking for. As far as clubs it really depends on when you come down. Their is always a new hot club every week so it all depends. Plenty of shows to check out as well. Email me if you need more info.

We just got back from Las Vegas and we stayed at the hard rock hotel and casino.....I was VERY impressed with the room we had there. Very nice casino, short distance to the strip ($6.00 cab ride from there to MGM grand). It was 129.00 a night but well worth the price
We also have stayed at the tropicana (not very bad for a cheap hotel) Circus Circus Hotel (never again) and Terribles Hotel and Casino (also very nice). Dont plan on getting a rental car....It really isnt worth the hassle of having one unless you plan on going anywhere away from the actual strip. Cabs are pretty cheap there and everything is walking distance other wise.

We stayed At the Flamingo, which is older, but still nice. REally nice, would be ceaesars or Bellagio, New York, new york.
We've seen the Legends show, which is 'impersonators' of famous musical acts, great show and costumes. Also saw Penn and Teller, magicians, that was great and our early 20's kids liked it too. They are out front after signing autographs.
Plan to do lots of walking. You'll want to walk up and down the strip, stopping at casinos along the way, so a car would be a pain. There is a monorail on one side of the strip that goes quite a ways, cheaply. Used to be a street car type shuttle also. Dont get a car. If you want to do a day trip, do a tour on a bus. Hoover dam trip is cool.

I would say NO to the car. The best way to travel in Vegas in by walking, taxi, or if need be bus. Vegas is a party place and the last thing you really want to do is worry about driving someplace.
I like the Luxor, but haven't been there in a while and heard it has gone down hill a bit. I would suggest the MGM which has a FUN club.......Studio 54!!
Pretty much every hotel has a club, but it depends on what you like.
Also, you might want to check out The Palms......I hear alot of celebrities frequent that hotel and their clubs.....

Picking a hotel really just depends on your taste and how much you want to spend. There are cheap but decent and there are really nice but expensive.
I agree with the other answer - don't bother getting a car unless your going way off the strip. I would not take cabs though - they are all NUTS!!
The city bus is a good transportation option - alot of tourists shy away from it but Its easy to get around if you get the schedule that has a map in it. You can get a day pass for only $5 and get off and on as much as you want for 24 hrs.

don't get a rental car, you won't need it.
i went this spring and stayed at the luxor and venetian and would definitely recommend the venetian it is amazing and has Tao and Tao beach - 2 of the hottest clubs. the luxor is listed as a 4-star which was a joke. maybe a 3 at the most.
if you want something nice stick to the 5-star hotels in Vegas: Venetian, Wynn, Bellagio. you won't regret it!

This is actually a good time to start looking for a flight and hotel. There are lots of tips on how to do this at
http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com
Everything from how to get a cheap flight, discount hotels, how to get around, where to eat and above all here is a list of free attractions
http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/free-attractions.html
My hotel recommendations are Luxor, Mandalay bar, Bellagio and Ceasars Palace. I personally will not rent a car unless you are planning a day trip outside Vegas.
hope this helps

I live here. & There a LOT of things to see & do, not on the strip. I would get a cheap car! There is a lot of traffic & the taxi can get racked up fast. But if you are planning just to stay on the strip, then no don't get the car. But Myself, I like to have a car just in case. Yes, You can walk to everything, but they are far apart..... Just my thoughts.
