However, I live in an area where the closest place to snowboard is over two hours away, which means I can't really snowboard near as much as I want, or need to. I'm only 16, and I've only been snowboarding once, but I loved it and I've always wanted to do it.

I'm really looking for advice from experienced riders. I think I could be great. I went to an area with a bunch of other first-timers, I didn't take any lessons, and I did much better than all the other first-timers. It just feels natural to me.

I'm going to college soon, so that could really open up my options. What areas would you recommend for me? I can get into most schools, so as long as it isn't Ivy League, it's not a problem.

Also, are any of you sponsored? If so, how long did that take?

I'm really serious about snowboarding, so I really need some help. Thanks!

Well, i don't know where you live, but the east coast and the CO and UT areas are your best bet for colleges and universities near ski areas. Alot of schools now have ski/snowboard clubs and you could get a college student season pass really cheap at most resorts. Also, there is a university somewhere in CO or UT that you could do a internship or class for snowboarding for like a semester. As a college student, you will have so many options and opprotunites for this kind of stuff. Good luck and keep that fire burning.

I went to the University of Nevada in Reno and I live about 15 miles from the nearest resort and within 60 miles of over 10 resorts. Tahoe is a pretty good place to ride and since it also isn't far from California there is a lot of other things to do also.

Good Luck

it takes a while to get sponsored. cuz you have to be able to throw down crazy tricks and such.

beg your parents to take you as often as you can, or even get them into skiing (thats what I did)
