I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook computer with a beautiful 15.4" WUXGA screen (1920x1200 resolution ). The computer itself is getting rather old and slow so I'm looking for a new machine.

The problem is, I can't seem too find any new notebook computers that have such good resolution at a 15.4" screen. I don't want to bump up to a 17" screen because those computers get to big to move around! I've looked at Dell, Lenovo, and Sony so far, and all of their 15.4" screens seem to top out at 1680x1050 resolution - and even this resolution is uncommonly high and expensive.

I find it so strange that 3 years after I bought this one, I can't find a screen with as good resolution as my current one! Aren't computers supposed to improve fast? Am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks!

I couldn't find any customizeable ones from any manufacturers, this is about the only one I could find at all, and as you can see it is quite pricy:Item=N82E16834146335

As for why, it is partly that the higher resolution monitors are a bit more expensive to make, but mostly it is demand. Such a high resolution is not very popular at that screen size, it makes everything too small for most people's taste.
