Yesterday I asked two questions...one concerned evolution in school, and involved teachers who tell their kids that God doesn't exist, or is an outdated concept. From the answers I got, it became quite clear that, of course, atheist parents aren't being told about this by their kids, but Christian parents are...
Anyhow, it seems that someone took offense, and Y!A deleted it...
The other question asked whether there have ever been any discoveries that might tend to support atheism...you know, like maybe some ancient civilization that didn't have any form of worship, or something. Predictably, I was told that it is not possible to prove a negative (I wish someone would tell my bank that!) and that the burden of proof is on the people who claim that there is a God...
So, now I have to ask...is Y!A showing preferential treatment to atheists??

Not as such. HOWEVER, when a question gets reported it is automatically deleted, before any contact is made with the questioner to ask them to do so themselves, or even to point out that the question is at issue. It is instances like this that reinfoces my stance that ONLY those on the Yahoo answers staff should have any authority to report questions or answers and the option should be removed from access of the general user. There is too much room for abuse by unscrupulous people (like those that report ANY questions or answers that don't agree with ther point of view) for it to be available.
I presonally didn't see anything wrong with the question you asked....but then...I'm all for the free and uncensored exchange of ideas.

I think this question has been miscategorized since atheism has nothing to do with gays and lesbians.
However, finding a culture with no religion neither proves nor disproves the existence of a god, nor does finding a culture with a religion. All it proves is that people ascribed mythological stories to things they couldn't comprehend and worshipped, often by bribing the god with sacrifices, to keep on god's good side.
Science has proven that claims against evolution and the age of the earth are wrong, just as science proved in Copernicus' day that the Earth revolved around the Sun and not vice versa. Anyone making the reverse claim today is thought an idiot, yet "intelligent design" is put forth as a viable alternative to proven science.

Personally I think there are those who live and let live... and others who go around reporting and finding offense in what people say.
So really.. I don't think it's a matter of preferential treatment... just whether or not someone decides to click that button.

No one is getting preferential treatment. Let's say I'm an atheist (I'm not). And you tell me that there is a God and I am condemned to hell for not believing in him. To which I say prove it. You can't. Anymore than I could prove to you that he doesn't exist. No one knows for certain. But religion and politics are hotspot topics. Toes are liable to get stepped on. Some are just more sensative than others. As long as you know you meant no malice.

I hear ya!! Great questions, btw.
I don't think that Yahoo shows preferential treatment to anyone...rather they go based on the reporting by users. Maybe there just are a lot of Atheist users that hit that report button a lot.
This is just my opinion.

Wrong area, Dearest but whichever choice you make, it matters who's finger is first on the report button.
I personally figure there's not much difference between the big bang and God sneezing..... Good luck telling that in R&S.
That section is as catty or even worse as General Cultures and you don't want to go there without a flak vest and a large automatic weapon.
Good luck, Sweetness.
