I recently bought my 15 year old son a laptop. After checking it, i found several links to softcore porn sites. There were no videos, only pictures. I haven't said anything to him yet.
Best way to handle this?

Y'know, he shouldn't be surfing the Web for porn, obviously, but he is a 15-year-old boy, and it's only natural for him to be curious about sex. It's much easier for kids these days to get porn off an Internet site than it was in the old days, when they probably had to swipe their dad's Playboy magazines, or worse, steal them from the store themselves. The point is, teenagers have been trying to see pornography since it was invented, and your son is not the only boy on the planet to ever want to see some of it and probably, you know, "use" it. But isn't that better in so many ways than if he was out there actually having sex himself? I wouldn't confront him about it directly, but if you haven't had "the talk" yet, now would probably be a good time for that. Or if you have had it, maybe it's time for The Talk, Part 2- you know, beyond the basics. If you feel weird about it, see if you can enlist the help of the boy's dad, or a male family friend or uncle or something. Boys his age have a much easier time talking about this sort of thing with men they trust.
And congrats on raising such a fine son for only going to the soft-core sites- there is a lot of stuff out there that's WAY more disturbing!!!!

You are lucky that is all you have found. Now you have to remember what you were like when you were his age. Back then they had magazines but now you can go on line and find porn on it. Just sit him down and tell him that looking at porn is normal for a boy at his age. do not make him feel like it is not normal. Remember we have all look at porn one time or another. Ask him when he looks at it how does it make him feel. You better have this talks with him before some one else does. Or next time you might walk in on him and a girl.

GUYS It's a troll, relax. "Some site called 4chan (which contained those things)" 4chan is the homeland of trolls, and does definately not contain child porn, at least not for very long since they have tons of admins. "and a picture of a running bear" - The so called pedobear, another meme from 4chan and an insider joke. Move along, nothing to see here.

Well he's 15 so he's naturally curious and with what's on t.v. and movies these days, and how kids talk in school, I wouldn't be surprised if he knows a lot more than you think he does. As for how to handle it, were you snooping through his computer? Cuz if you were be prepared for one irate hormonal teenager (yikes!) Just let him know that it's normal for him to want to look at that stuff but to be careful and not have sex too soon and when he finally does, he needs to be prepared, let him know the many consequences of teen sex, like pregnancy and all those std's out there these days. Good Luck, and i know its tought but try to keep your cool about it all.

I wonder what your son would of posted in here if he hadnt of been looking at porn and he caught you sneaking on his computer, we would all be advising him to put a password on his laptop by now. Unless porn is against your religious beliefs then I would leave him to look, I bet theres not many people in here actually learnt anything about there sexuality from their parents but can probably not remember where they did actually learn it from, its just life let him be.

Honestly what did you expect him to do? lol boys will be boys right? you need to explain where you stand with porn in the house. because that does count as porn in the house. if youd like him to stop then tell him so, if not then i dont see why you should bring it up at all. but if anything you need to tell him about the viruses that come with porn sites. i know its like well...my sons looking at porn and your talking about computer problems lol you dont want to have to toss out that laptop bc of this trust me. best of luck

Try asking him why he has those sites in the first place. Don't go kung fu on him by yelling and stuff. Maybe he's just curious. Is there a Sex Ed class at his school? Being informed can also help. But if you don't like him going to those sites, use parental block.

Youre not going to be able to stop it. Even if you block every porn site on the internet he can still go get a playboy. And thats no different then what boys have been doing for years.

Keep sex as a fun and open and nautal thing and it help him get a girlfriend to cuddle as he has his sexaul feelings seen in a positive way
