there is a new program called guest accounts, in which you do NOT have to sign up for either a free or a paid Pogo account, BUT you are not able to chat, nor can you access the Club Pogo games.
just registering for a free Pogo account, you may chat with limits.

No, you dont need a paid subscription to just do a regular chat.However, you do need a paid subscription to use the emoticons and go to a private chat.

No, I don't think you do need a paid account to use regualr chat but you do to play more games. that is the only real benefit!
Oh and winning money whcih happens once every blue moon :)
