When was the mississippi modified?

hello,
can someone please tell me when the mississippi river was modified? (date?)
You know, before it was all bendy and then it was made straight by the american gov.
I can't find it on the internet and i have loads of work so if you know i would really appreciate it!

There is no actual date for the changes made to the Mississippi River - it is an ongoing project of closing off channels, diverting channels, building dams and locks, watersheds, etc.

There is no one answer to this. As America's largest river (and the fourth largest in the world) its hard to pin just one project on it. Because of the dynamic nature of the river (meaning its constantly changing) geographers can't even decided the official length for the river.
