Federer plans to play till he is 35. Nadal and Djokovic are younger than Roddick and will likely outlast Roddick past his playing age. So In this day and age of Federer and Nadal and rising stars like Djokovic how realistic are Andy Roddick's chances of winning another grand slam?

Will Roddick go down in history as a one-slam-wonder?

Until he is able to adapt his game and add some versatility, i believe he will be a one slam wonder. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic all have more variety, quickness, and they play each point smarter than Roddick.

Now if Roddick is able to serve huge for 2 weeks, and doesnt have to face those 3 players...then he could easily win another one. That is how he won his only one...playing Nalbandian in the semis and Ferrero in the Finals of the US Open must have been a dream come true for him.

Yes he will go down as nothing more than a one-slam-wonder. Its funny anyone would bring up his play in 2003 and raising his game to that level when he is now playing much better than he ever could then. The problem is there are much better players now then there were then.

He has a great first serve and steady forehand, but who doesnt now adays. He still can't return to save his life and gets schooled by the likes of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic because he cant even leave the slightest impression on their serves. When you have absolutely no defense you have to pray you win 6-4, 7-5 or in a tiebreaker and even there Gasquet showed you can still pick your spots and beat him. Grandslams are best of 5 sets and he will always be susceptible to falling to any young guy that can return or an established star that can return.

As for Federer getting older and his play will diminish you can say the exact same thing for Roddick. Roddick is only good for the few weeks out of the year anyway and is not even a threat to win any big event. Outside of a couple crappy smaller events in the US, where nobody else plays and a Wimbledon tuneup, is he really a threat to win?

Roddick will need draws avoiding the following players to do anything next year:
Federer
Nadal
Djokovic
Murray
Ferrer
Nalbandian (if he plays the way he did at the end of the year)
Gasquet
anyone nonAmerican on clay

and the following players may improve enough to beat him regularly:
Del Potro
Baghdatis
Youzhny
Simon
Stepanek
Wawrinka
Monfils
Tsonga
and finally Gulbis

Probably, but at least he won one, and the Davis Cup too, and has been a grand slam finalist many other times. He was also the year-end #1 in 2003. That is a pretty stellar career, despite being overshadowed by Roger Federer. Roddick will be a hall-of-famer regardless of what else happens in his career.

I believe Roddick still has it in him, he just needs to go back to learning the stuff that got him to the US Open in 2003,

If Federer plans to play till he is 35 that Andy should too, he still has a chance on the hard court, but grass is no chance,

But no Andy will not go down in history as a one slam wonder, i give him atleast one more slam

Connors was supposed to be the kick in the rear-end Roddick needed, and he did get in better shape and was hitting the ball crisper, but I cannot project him to win another Grand Slam singles event in the near future.

He hits such a heavy ball, but has never seemingly gotten comfortable attacking the net...which Connors would do masterfully off his crisp groundstrokes. And I feel he is at the point in his career that he will not take the time to learn a new facet of the game, no matter who is coaching him.

Yes and he was lucky to win that one. He really has not got a complete game. He has the big serve and some big groundstrokes at times but no net game and no strategy. There are too many good players playing today that his chances of winning another Grand Slam are slim to none and Slim left town.

The dominating gamers are not Rafa, Fed, Chokerbitch and M*aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... they're Rafa and Fed. Ahem. besides, those 2 adult adult males are there, so i do no longer think of there is lots greater desire for Andy in terms of triumphing slams. yet you understand what? the certainty that he exchange into in a position to maintain himself interior the suited 10 for for this reason long exhibits he's particularly stable, that he's not all serve like some human beings have been saying right here...

Yes, I really do think so, even though winning one slam is good enough, but Roddick really needs to work on his technique, not just power, sure he can serve fast, but he really doesn't know how to hit a backhand, it's always an inside-out forehand, which usually still gets returned.

no i think one day he will win wimbledon or the U.S open again. it all depend on his fitness and motivation i think. but eventually fedderer will get old and will play just a bit worse that might give roddick an advantage as for djokovic he hasn't won a slam yet so thats a confidence ruiner and nadal can only win on one surface(french open clay)

Yes he will, unless he can pick up his game.
He has changed his game since he won the only slam, but it
is not enough to beat others, as others have improved their
game farther and farther.....
I am sorry to say this, but it will be.....
On the other hand, I wish he wins couple more.
