I strongly encourage you to listen to the RealAudio of Paul Solman's report tonight from the "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" and read the transcript from last week's broadcast. The transcript from tonight's report should be up by the weekend.

Toys "R" Us has stepped up its independent inspection process and has terminated the contracts of various vendors in response to the growing concerns of the American public. The company has a "no-questions-asked" return policy on recalled toys and will accept recalled toys not purchased at its stores, according to Paul Solman's reporting.

The retail stores arent responsible for the safety of toys. All they must do is remove any recalled by the manufacturers from their shelves in a timely manner after notification from the supplier. Parents are ultimately responsible for what they purchase so I would suggest simple toys made by local craftsmen.
