Soviet technology was not fancy. It didn't have lots of lights and bells that went ping etc. It was basic. Reasonably put together and got the job done with the minimum of fuss.

Because of this the Russians were able to achieve a hell of a lot more in space than the Americans. The T34 has been mentioned, along with the AK47. These again are good examples of basic technology that has been well considered. All Soviet weopons were ideal soldiers weopons. Easy to maintain and repair. With a foundary, you could turn many Western weopons into plough shears, but the AK47 is probably the only weopon that you could work the reverse on.

It is interesting to note that a declassified evaluation of a T34 given to the British in WW2 showed that the steel was easy to machine and generally of a better quality than those used by British tanks of the period.

Also, medical. Floating hospitals would help to purchase foreign currency by offering revelutionary eye surgery (Many of their surgeons are still the top of their field).
