Oh my gosh, that is even worse than the normal unique spellings! I'm not a big fan of changing the letters around, then the person is going to spend their whole life correction spelling.

Personally, I think It's a stupid thing to do. It does not make the name unique. It only makes it look like you can't spell. If the name is Melissa, then spell it that way. Think about your child learning how to spell and write it, plus forever having it mispronounced and mispelled.

I know so many kids that hate their names because no one can pronounce them or spell them the correct way. In fact some of them have just given up and don't care anymore, they let people spell it and say it how they want to. I don't think it's a good idea. Kids can be cruel, and I don't want my child criticized for something I gave them.

No one does it that much unless they are really crazy but I support a little uniqueness in a common name, as long as it doesn't mess up the pronounceciation.

blech..i hate when people do that..

i mean, one or 2 letters, yeah, that's a decent change..

its the backwards spellings (neveah), cutesy names like Miley who yes will one day turn 40 and be stuck with that name, and strange names that were once nice names that drive me crazy.

i go to school with a girl named Aly-Cassandra, and its supposed to be pronounced Alexandra..yipes. i also know twin girls named Jaetynne (Jaden) and Madissynne (Madison)..poor kids!

Awful - you are consigning the child to permanently having to spell out his or her name to strangers and even friends and relations for the rest of their life. I know someone called Jemma when the normal spelling is Gemma, and Jenufer, when the usual spelling is Jennifer - it really makes like difficult for them, and their names are constantly mis-spelt

I do know someone named Maree (prounounced like Mary) but everyone always thought it was pronounced like Marie.

Reeta isn't so bad, but the other ones are trainwrecks and look like trailer trash to me.

It's trashy-looking, illiterate-looking and just all around disgusting. All you get is a hideous spelling, the name itself is still the same.
