Do you think that it will live up to the hype?

Cautious optomism. I like JJ Abrams, and most of the work he has done in the past. But with almost a full month still before release, I think this may get too much hype.

I agree with perfecsaiyan. It doesn't look as worthy of the hype its getting. Everybody is saying how similar it looks to War of the Worlds, but if anything it reminds me of the Blair Witch Project because the entire film is gonna be told through a shakey camera by one of the characters and the film looks like its gonna be depressing and have a tragic ending. Most of the time, movies that come out in January either suck or are good, but dark. The majority of the time, its suck.

You know what?
I don't follow "hype" that way when I watch the movie: I don't have to hear "it didn't live up to my expectations".
Just form your own opinion and go watch the movie with an open mind.

i looked up a plot summary (not a spoiler, just the basics) and it looks pretty lame. i mean...oh noes theres a monster, lets just follow these kids around while it rampages through the city.
i'm not sure how entertaining that will be.
