Has anyone heard of taking Mucinex that contains Guaifenesin, in order to concieve and if so did it work, and how soon before you ovulated did you start taking it.

Yes, it is said to help in conception because it thins your cervical mucus and thus makes it easier for sperm to travel through it. I try to take it starting about 4 days before my estimated ovulation and continuing until two days after ovulation. You can take 2 teaspoons 3 times a day.

Laura is right regarding the water. Water can be a great benefit not only to cervical mucus, but in almost every aspect with your health. I don't know about the connection of Guaifenesin and autism, I wouldn't think it would play a significant factor if you use it before conception. This probably comes into play more with use during pregnancy. In any case, however, water may be a cheaper alternative to improve your cervical mucus. Good luck!

Guaifenesin is used to thin mucous during colds or the flu. Mucinex is the same drug only at a much higher price. I've not heard of it being used to aid in conception.

Hello dear one, I just wanted to inform you (as I do when I see this question anywhere) that there is a possible link between the use of Guaifenesin for conception purposes and autism in the child. I would advise staying away, only because of this rumor. (And that very well may be all that it is, a rumor.)

I used it when I was taking clomid (it made me really "dry"). I was instructed by my doctor to start taking it about 5 or 6 days before ovulation.

Good Luck!
