Well, I would HIGHLY recommended the Apple Ipod Classic Silver or the Apple Ipod ITouch. Here's the specs for both: (sorry about the colors)

I have a "Creative Zen" 4.0 GB and I'm totally happy with it! Never had problems with it, comes with easy to use software, small and stylish, great carrying case-- it's awesome!
Stop off at "The Source" (Circuit City), they have so many different Creative Models availible in a variety of colours and prices, I'm sure you can find what you're looking for.
So I'd stop off there and pick one up, I'm glad I did :)

And I have a feeling you'll get a lot of reccomendations for ipods, and although there are a lot of up-points to getting them, I'd stress that you be really careful and look up the pros/cons before you buy anything! I know my friend got hers and although it's a handy machine, she's had MAJOR problems with it freezing up on her and being out of service until the battery finally runs out. You're also a lot more limited as to how you can/can't put songs on it.
I'm not saying don't buy it, I'm just saying be sure to look into any product before you buy-- including iPods!

I have a Sandisk Sansa 8GB and its the coolest thing I have bought in awhile. It runs around $149 and its worth every penny. Its expandable to 12GB with a sd Micro chip, How much more could you use? Plays video and MP3/Wav

Get a inventive Zen nano plus it has a radio equipped in microphone dont ignore a liquid crystal show show screen and it quite is interior a similar finances I relatively have one and that i like it. seek for ipod shuffle Can it do a majority of those issues It holds 500 songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure you can get a touch screen under $250. Get an iPhone. It has everything.
