I love Maren, but Merritt feels like a boy's name to me.
If you did use it, I'd choose something strongly feminine for the middle - Merritt Caroline, Merritt Elisabeth, Merritt Anneliese.

Possibly OK for a middle name if it's something like your maiden name, but not otherwise.

I think Merritt for a little girl is great. My maiden name is Miller and I am going to name my daughter Miller Grace. I think Kathryn or Grace would go well.
