Her name is Brenna Michelle. Opinions please. Did I 'scar her for life' (her words, not mine) by naming her that...or not?

She says she doesn't like it because people always call her "Brenda" instead of "Brenna".

She just turned 21 and her boyfriend has started calling her "Bunny" because that's what his two year old niece called her once...he thinks it's 'cute'..she doesn't

Brenna Michelle is a cute name. Most children go through this phase where they don't like their names and want to change it. My sister is still going through this phase at age 21. She'll get over it or just deal with it.

You don't say how old she is. My sense is that most girls go through an I-hate-my-name phase. It will probably pass.
Personally, I think Brenna is a great name.
But, as someone who legally changed her name, I can also say that sometimes our well-meaning parents just get it wrong. It's rough to have a name that doesn't fit. If your daughter is really upset, I'd encourage her to try to choose a nickname that DOES feel comfortable - Bree? Mica? - and remind her that if she still feels so strongly when she's financially independent, she can pursue a legal name change.
But my guess is that it will blow over before then. :)

Brenna Michelle is a fine name~ many children go through a stage where they don't like their names. She'll get over it. She may even like/love her name in the future.

Brenna is a nice enough name... but I can understand not liking the Michelle part. She'll get over it, all kids do!

If she's a teenager....this is to be expected....
I have a feeling she's a teenager, since they're the ones dramatic enough to say "scar her for life" LOL.
Everyone goes through this stage, and eventually she'll get over it.
Brenna Michelle is a beautiful name. Tell her at least you guys didn't name her Kiki. LOL
Good luck

Brenna Michelle is very pretty! I like it better than mine. No, you didn't scar her for life. If she doesn't like it, she can get it legally changed.

That's a really pretty name! How old is she? When I was little, I HATED my name [Alaina]. Everyone in class had personalized pencils and stuff, but I never found one that said Alaina on it. I hated how people would never say it right or spell it right! I'd always have to tell them how it was spelled, how it was pronounced; it got tiring after a while. I'm 13 now and I love my name!!

I hated my name for the longest time. But now that I am grown I like it. Not too many people have my name so thats what I like about it so much. You should ask her what she would like to be called. Most kids just want to have a popular name.

So tell her she can use her middle name. Its a perfectly fine name, nothing scarring about it. Its not like you named her something truly embarassing (I knew a poor guy named George Asgill and he HATED it). For that matter, tell her to get creative and find a nickname in her names that she can deal with (Bren, Elle). Instead of letting her fuss at you, tell her to find a solution!
