thanks, is there anyway to gain the .30 GB?

Just like a disk, when you format it some space is taken by the addressing scheme. Also when they say 4GB and you count up how many actual bytes are there that number is always less (1000 bytes vs 1024) add up when you are talking big drives.

Some manufacturers differ in what they call a Gigabyte. Some use the actual amount and some say a billion bytes and some think it is 1024 X 1000 which it isn't but then there is formatted and unformatted and so on so you get what you get and that is that.

I was wondering that as well. Maybe because 4GB is flashier then saying 3.70GB
