I think that it is possible that a foreign object may be blocking a passage in the cooling system, most likely from the intake manifold job . take it back and say that you want to know what has happened and why anyway that is my thought. good luck and i hope the mechanic who did the work in the first place is honest;)

Well there is 2 reasons a pump fails and 1 of them is the antifreeze itself.
Gm came out with an orange antifreeze that thy say will not distroy the pump. It clearly states on the radiator that dexacool is what to use. If you add another brand it will eat up the seals and make a pump fail.
Also age will do it. You dident say how many miles it had.
But a car only 7 years old the pump shouldent fail. You dident say if it was leaking or not. If the light is on, get it scaned and find out if it is the pump, but the cars computer does not controll the water pump. The light could be on just because the tank holding the water is low, it does have a device in that tank to tell you if it he low.
As to the whistle it could be just a air leak.
Have it check by someone else and dont tell this guy that someone said it might be the water pump. Let this new guy tell you what is wrong with the car, dont give him any hints as to what you or someone else told you.
You can get it scaned at AUTO-ZONE for free and then seek help for the problum.

Please re-read what you write before hitting the submit button. I had to read that jumble 3 times to make sense of it.
If the check engine light came on someone should be able to run a diagnostic and tell you exactly what the problem is. The water pump may have died, it happens. The brake work has nothing to do with the water pump but the intake manifold may, MAY, be related. What was wrong with the intake manifold? Was it completely replaced or something on it fixed...?

Do yourself a favor. If it turns out to be the water pump, don't let them put dex-cool back into your car. It turns to goo fairly quickly. Bring a gallon of Mercedes Benz coolant, and change the whole system over. If you had a water leak at the intake manifold for a long time before having it fixed, you probably ran out of coolant a few times, running the pump dry. If the WP bearings get too hot, they fail. Simple as that.

The only problem your pump will cause if it's not leaking badly is a mess in your driveway. If it IS leaking badly than you could have alot of problems... Your shaking, and A/C problem is most likely not caused by your leak... If it's a slow leak, keep your radiator filled and you'll be O.K.
