I am interested in deserts and may want to study them when I am older. Is there an academic discipline specific to the study of deserts?

As a bachelor's degree: not really, this is more of an upper level speicalist degree type stuff, and you have to have the general knowledge first.

Recommend: geology and enviromental studies. Double major in it, or do a major in enviro studies with a minor in geology, whatever. This should give you the good groundwork to study deserts. Even see if you can take a concentration on arid climates through classes and Independent study.

There are lots of Master's programs, so get your bachelors, and then your masters!
