What is the difference between knitting and crocheting?

Knitting=2 needles
Crochet=1 hook
Crochet will use more yarn than knitting.
I can crochet faster than I can knit.
I prefer to crochet afghans and to knit sweaters.
I love to do both.

Knitting is done with 2 pointed needles, while crochet uses one hook.

i do both. crochet is easier to learn. you don't have to worry about stitches slipping off of the needles. crocheting with yarn is bulkier & lends itself better to afghans, hats, shawls. sweaters look better when they are knit - not as bulky. be sure & check your guage. i was never told about that & my first vest was way to long. i can crochet faster than knit. whichever you decide to learn, good luck.

another difference is that knitting is a type of weaving, and crochet is a type of knotting.
