I just got PS3 (yay!) It's too far from my computer to run an ethernet line, so I have to go with a wireless connection. I just bought the Linksys WRT54G wireless router.

I went with the PS3 automatic setup route. I was able to download the update and establish an online account, but I keep timing out when I am trying to update my Call of Duty 4 game. It gets to 22% then freezes.

I have Windows Vista which came installed with Norton. Occasionally I am notified Norton blocked an attack from my very own computer. This leads me to believe Norton is blocking the router. Any ideas?

The Norton notice pops up when the PS3 is attempting to gain access through my router to the internet, so I *know* it's Norton that's the problem.

No. That would be a possibility if you were doing internet connection sharing through windows, but your PS3 is going straight to your router. I've yet to get a ps3, but I'm guessing you can see connection strength? Also, you can DMZ the ip of the PS3 (only DMZ if you plan on locking the mac address to the ip, otherwise port forward). Worst case scenario, try to plug the PS3 into the router and see if it still fails.

Norton has nothing to do with your PS3 or router. Remember though, Norton does suck.

because of the fact of this i do unlike Norton stuff. some human beings like it, not I nonetheless. you may desire to tell it to continuously enable the relationship in the process the port you're getting access to greater beneficial than in all probability.
