Is it still enforced that a girls' school uniform skirt can't be too short? How much skin are they allowed to show before getting into trouble?

At my school we don't have uniforms, but there is a dress code. A girl's skirt must come past her fingertips with her arms hanging at her sides (usually about mid-thigh). We're also not allowed to wear anything that is sleeveless. If a girl wants to wear anything that's see through, the shirt she has on under it has to be dress code appropriate too. There are also rules about the necklines on shirts/dresses; they can't go below the line of a girl's underarms, so that her chest isn't exposed.

It depends on the school's uniform code.

A standard is that they have to be below the fingers when the arms are the the sides.
Another standard used has been no more than 3 inches above the knee.

Here's an example of a uniform policy for an all girl's school:
A. Skirt
Mandatory; MUST be purchased at Alamar Uniform. Navy and gray plaid; should be worn close to the knee; must be fully zipped and worn at the waistline. Students are not allowed to change the appearance of the plaid of the uniform skirt.
