I looked into starting the shot, and my doctor said that when you start, you can get bleeding like that. She should check with her doctor because she could end up anemic, but I don't think what she's experiencing is unusual for the shot.

Get her OFF of it.

Show her google results of "depo provera lawsuit" and have her read reviews at http://www.rateitall.com

That drug treats a majority of women horribly. The health risks and negative side affects are not worth the possibility of not having a period.

I would never ever recommend this to anyone and am appalled its still on the market.

I was a former depo user. I'm off of it now (thank goodness!) and only hope it did not screw my body up worse than it already is.

Some women have no periods and some women have irregular bleeding. Temporary estrogen supplementation may be the fix, or if that doesn't work, then it might not be the birth control for her

Gently suggest to her that maybe the shot is not for her. It is not compatible with every person's physiology...she is a prime example.

When she goes back in for her next shot (which, if it's her third month now, should be soon), simply ask to switch to the pill. Problem solved.
