mean is like when you're being nasty and rude to a person and the other mean is to tell the definition of something or to explain something a little better

Well there is mean like someone is cruel
And then there is the mean in math which means:

The "mean" is the "average" you're used to, where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers. The "median" is the "middle" value in the list of numbers. To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order, so you may have to rewrite your list first. The "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number is repeated, then there is no mode for the list.

There are at least five definitions of mean.

-On purpose "Did you mean to do that?"
-Not nice "Don't be so mean to the puppy."
-Intent "Is that what you mean?"
-Average (math term) "The mean of 3, 4, and 5 equals 4."
-Humble (old english usage, most often seen today in poetry) "The dandelion, and other mean flowers."

Mean -- To be nasty tempered; cruel.

Mean -- To find the sum of all items divided by the number of items.

Mean -- To define or explain.

ADDITION: The middle number of a set of numbers is the MEDIAN not the mean.
