Going there for a Bachelor Party and want to plan it for the right weekend, I am thinking Feb 2. Any other tips would be great (good hotels close by, bars, Etc...)

Feb 2nd is the right day. Since its in Soulard, I would stay at any of the down town hotels. I personally like the Drury Inns but if you want to go classier there are plenty of more expensive ones to choose from. You might check several of them out to see if they offer any Mardi Gras specials. Its a fun time. Dont plan on driving since there is no close parking and a lot of the streets are closed for the parade. Soulard is FULL of bars and most of them have tents set up on the street. Dont plan on bringing in any back packs or coolers since they are banned. You wont have any problems finding something to eat and drink. Most of the police tickets in the past years have been for underage drinking and peeing in alleys. Its not New Orleans but it is a HUGE party with lots of fun people and a great parade. We go every year so welcome to one of St. Louis' great traditions.

You might want to check for Bed and Breakfasts in Soulard. That would be even better than staying downtown. You'll be just past the brewery -- in STL that means Anheuser Busch -- so try to make the tour. It's a beautiful place and they give you free beer!

There are bars all over the place in Soulard, one on every corner. You won't have any trouble finding a bar, although getting in might be tricky. This is a big BIG Mardi Gras town. There will be cops all over the place, so make your choices accordingly.
