There are a lot of options to free up memory unistall all programs on your computer that are demos. Unistall all programs that you really don't need. Defrag your hard drive, and use a online storage site to back up your data (another way to make room on your hard drive). Do a disk cleanup there are probably a ton of old files on your machine. And run anti-spyware just to make sure that is not the reason your game is slow.

No it will not stop working. They are two completely different games, not one upgraded version of the other. Yes, you can have both running at the same time.

They would both work, but if im thinking correctly, you need a disc to run each right? So you cant run both at the same time, but nonetheless they both still work.

I don't know about that because i've never had the first Sims game,but i did have the second and guess what it's broken due to addiction.But it wasn't my fault because my dad did it.So i can't help you.
