I realise the bigger the engine the faster it goes but in relative terms was wondering what would be considered the torquiest? fastest?

The fastest cruiser that actually handles and goes round corners is the Triumph Rocket III.
2.3 litres engine, you can even put that sucker on it's back wheel vertical.
You can't do that to a boss hoss.
You can accelerate and when you get to a corner back off the throttle brake slowdown and enter the corner at speed in full control.
You can't do that on a boss hoss or a HD HOG or a V-Max
All get out of shape and their rear tyres goes like a crusty creme in coffee.
You can lean
Er none of the others can
And you can carry a pillion in comfort.
Few of the others can.
It may not be american ( as if that matters)
It may not have the biggest engine
It may not have the best name ( Rule Britania, Britania rules the.....) { but it does}
or the most chrome ( who needs it)
BUT IT IS THE BEST!!!

I don't agree that a bigger engine always makes a faster bike, power to weight is what makes a faster bike and having a big lump of an engine weighs more.

Also, torque gives you acceleration...not top end. For that you need high revs.
That's why little buzzy 2-strokes are so damn fast for their size and power output.

But, back to the question.....I think you'd be hard put to beat the Yamaha V-Max in terms of sheer acceleration and straight line speed since you get around 140 bhp from the damn thing.
Corners like a puppy on a lead I'm told but there you go.

Not sure why you want a fast cruiser.....why not just get a supersport instead?

For standard cruiser-style road-bikes, commonly available in the U.K. you are looking at:

Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special
1,250cc
123bhp
85ft/lbs
130mph

Triumph Rocket III
2,394cc
140bhp
147ft/lbs
140mph

Victory Hammer S
1,634cc
95bhp
110ft/lbs
130mph

Yamaha V-Max
1,198cc
145bhp
87ft/lbs
140mph

If you can track down a Boss Hoss 502 (now discontinued), you are looking at 8,200cc, 502bhp, 467ft/lbs and allegedly 160+mph. You are also looking at a £30,000+ price tag...

Honda VTX is the fastest . I know just from Experience ,Some Bikes might beat it off the line but look out once I hit third I smoke the crap out of Every Bike I Race except for another VTX , My speedometer goes to 130mph and I have buried it lots of times and that's the 1300 Retro. My 1800 VTX was clocked at 156mph, It a Beast ,And I will put that bike up against Any Cruiser

The following are all very fast cruisers: Harley V-rod, Honda Valkrie, Triumph Rocket III, Yamaha V-max (criuser like) and most likley the new king would be the new for 08 suzuki BK. It is more UJM or naked bike than cruiser but it is a bit of a cross in my mind.

Fastest production cruiser is the Triumph Rocket 3, in fact I believe it is faster then any other production bike 'from the standstill'.

2294cc Engine and max power is 142PS / 140bhp / 104kW @ 6,000 rpm.

It may stretch the definition of a cruiser, but I'd have to say the Yamaha V-Max is one of the fastest "cruiser-like" bikes out there.

I don't know for sure. I would look to the harley v rod and the yamaha vmax but the are a lot of other good bikes in that catagory. Once you get over the liter mark i do not think much more cc really matter.

two words. Boss Hoss. With a 6.0L V8. Horsepower=425@5750 rpm
Torque=425 Ft.Lbs. @ 4750 rpm
and GVWR of 1675 it's almost 4hp/ftlbs per pound. I've seen them get up and move. But hang on....
