my car is a 1998 ford probe and i still have both piecesof key intact.Also would anyone roughly know how much it will cost?

just go to the dealership and give them your vin# and they will cut you another key. sometimes for free. otherwise it will only cost maybe a couple bucks more and you'll know that the cut is correct

That depends. If your have the alarm system or anti-theft system on the car. Your safest bet would be to take it to the dealer. They can cut the key and program the key also. Be sure to take all the keys with you. I believe that it takes 2 already programmed keys to program a third key. Other than it is more work.

most locksmiths can do this,
but a place that copies keys in a hardware store might not be able to.

but if you have the key number that was on the new keys, the dealer can make you one that is perfect.

if you have bith pices of the key you should be able to go to any key cutter shop hardware store that has a key machine the should be able to cut you a new key if they have a ford blank

Most keys have a chip in them, your car may be old enough that it does not have one.
