take a look at these ideas, particularly no. 8 and 4. Keep in mind that Brett Hull knows what he's talking about, afterall he did score 70 back to back goal seasons, including 86 goals in one season.http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1728310 (bigger nets?im not for it, but im all for offense, just take alook at the lightning and flames 9-6 or the 9-5 score between colorado and st. louis, those were pretty exciting, back and fourth scoring games.( and they haven't even considered reducing the size of the goalie eqipment)

wake-up even Gretzky said if crosby broke his records, it would be good for the sake of the nhl, how do you expect crosby or ovechkin to score 200 or 80 goals a season, when its tools like you who want low scoring games. **** sakes stop living in the low scoring 90's and open up your ******* eyes, the game is always changing, so i suggest you get used to it, have you noticed a trend here yet? 1930-1950 low scoring era, 1960-1993, high scoring era, 1994-2004 low scoring. The game is always changing, maybe even for the better, i for one am tired of seeing the 2-1 score, i've seen it for so long that, until i watched the flames and lightning game, It renewed my interest in hockey again, im not saying there should always be a 9-7 score, but atleast a 6-3 or 5-4 type score more often, because atleast it gives you hope for your team to catch up. Unlike the minnesota wild or canucks, if they score even one goal against you, chances are its going to stay that way, and thats just boring (1-0?)

The article was written by Darren Eliot, the picture just happens to be of Brett Hull.

Copas
The article was written in 2004. Several of those changes are already in effect.

Copas,
Until the mid-70s, the no-goalie zone existed, but not officially. If a goalie went into the corner to play the puck...he was smucked! Over time, the goalies were sort of protected more than an endangered species.

I like the trapezoid, it takes us back to the first 60 years of the game when goalies knew where the crease was and stayed in it.

I like the over the glass penalty as well, it's been a rule in International and Olympic Hockey since the beginning and most of the players like it. The NHL does need to set more stringent standards for height of boards and height of glass though.

I agree. I really don't understand why people would like to see a 10-9 game rather than a 2-1 game. I find it way more entertaining when goalie's make amazing saves then some piece of crap goal. As for the suggestions, I agree with almost all of them. I could care less about #8 because there is some wicked curves out there they are aloud to use. #7 I think they should protect the goalie but maybe not as much as they do now. #6 is definately debatable. I'm 100% against killing the whole penalty thing. #5 I don't see it making much of a difference. Everything else I agree 100%.

And to beat it all these are suggestions by ESPN, who supposedly has abandoned the NHL..
Most are spot on..
#8-- let em bend..
#6-- oh, god yes......
#3-- Absolutely-- currently it will be 2010 before Crosby is in Nashville.
#2 combined with #1-- figure something out here,PLEASE..
last season, a team going 15-0-67 would have made the playoffs.. CHANGE THE OT CONFIGURATION SOMEHOW!!!
Others I would offer-- eliminate the puck-over-the-glass penalty and the no-goalie zone..
Finally--- Its either a DIVE or a TRIPPING call--NOT BOTH!!!

Lity-- Ya-- #8 I was just trying to leave that one alone.. But something has to be done with the 3 point games dont you think???
#6 is debatable and #3 is being remedied...

Just Interested on your take on my suggestions for the no goalie zone and puck-over-glass instances???

Who needs more scoring? I want my team to win Stanley Cups not scorefest's.

But, the idiots in charge of running (ruining?) the NHL will listen to the "score junkies" and do something else to make a mockery of the great sport of ice hockey.

It would be awesome if the nhl does all those things. It would increase excitement and probably add more fans. It seems like the nhl doesn't care about making the game more popular. I can't wait till the winter classic on new years.

9-5 is way to much. I'd rather have a 5-4 game be an average.
