My laptop is a dell lattitude cpi pentium 2 processer it has a virus and is exeptianally slow, I need a new anti virus putting on it and the virus taking off and i need it to go faster, how much will this cost and what should i ask 4when i take it into the shop? thank you and happy new year

I wouldn't drop a dime fixing a dinosaur like that. It'll never be fast enough probably.
Buy a used newer rig.

Clean it yourself. Download and install free anti-virus and spyware from Grisoft.

Make sure you have all the updates for Windows and that you have the maximum RAM the laptop will take. Other than that, it will only run as fast as it is capable for a P2. It will never keep up with the later models.

You can get a new(er) laptop for $500 -$700 USD these days. You may want to consider that before sinking any money into what you have.

You might be able to fix it yourself. Do a total restore on the C: drive. If you dont have much computer knowledge, have a friend do it for you. Also you can get an anti-virus program free--download AVG anti-virus. AVG might fix it for you. It will cost too much to have it fixed for what your old pc is worth. You can probably find a good used laptop for about 300 dollars that is better than your old one.
