So I used to work in adult entertainment, and I found this to all be true: http://www.helium.com/tm/761304/people-strip-clubs-places

I want to hear from anyone who has been to these clubs or especially worked at them: what could be added to (or taken out of) the above article to make it a better knowledge resource for people who go?

Please read the article first before answering - every time I ask a question, people repeat what's already in it. :) Thank you for all your help!

Grr... I guess I didn't factor in the number of insecure people who hate strippers and strip clubs with a passion...

In defense of strippers, they're people JUST LIKE YOU who are making nasty comments. Except there's one major difference: they don't judge you based on what you do for a living.

Au contraire, Cobra... you'd be surprised at the sort of professionals who regularly visit some of these places. There are upscale ones, and there are dives - and the clientele is directly reflected in that, as are the ladies working there.

Well you definitely got everything in that artice. I tried stripping for 6 months( at a partial dive) and I went through everything you talked about; the catty women, the insults if u dont do what a certain guy wants or for how long he wants it. That was a good idea you had to set prices ahead of time- i never thought of that. I was too shy for that line of work so even though i made good money as the "girl-next-door" type I was always uncomfortable when it came to the money part. Wish I couldve read this article when I was dancing, stripping, wtvr. lol
It sooo depends on the establishment as to who can stay or who has to go. Sometimes where i worked security had to throw out unrulies and cheapskates trying to get a free show. Our club had a dress-code for the patrons. You had to dress nicely in order to come to our club and if u didnt you were "asked" to leave. So please dress nicely when you go; youll get more attention from the girls and u wont look like a deviant. You are absolutely right. You get what you pay for and u get what you give. The women arent animals or meat, they are dancers(who happen to be naked) and like ahhtchoo said they are just like any woman; they have insecurities but they also have CLASS, believe it or not. The women I worked with wouldve given me the shirt off their backs'. LOL Very well done you~
Heres a star too-

I'm not a stripper nor a customer, but I've had my experiences years ago.

I think the article was very well put. I agree with it. I think many people have ONE image of a strip club and those working in them. Like any other business, there are classy places and there are dives.

Alot of things that occur in some of these clubs are what the patrons make it, not the employee's. Its then turned around to be the establishments fault.

Some are dives and rumors are true, but by far all of these places. Some are very elegant and classy.

it kind of sounds like who ever wrote it, wrote from a perspective of protecting the self esteem of a stripper pulling in several hundred dollars per night in tips....
seriously stripping is simply a service, and the sort of people it attracts is not the polite professional man looking to enjoy a quiet evening sipping his $9.00 glass of watered down coke or pepsi.....it attracts guys that want to gawk at naked women and drool all over the place....a kind reminder a well paid service for many girls....for the few hours they work....

That is a very informative piece! I've never been but I've been interested. I've always wondered if I would get kicked out or asked if I wanted a job. But I see that you ladies are a sweet bunch and are just out doing your job. Thanks and I don't think there is anything that needs to be added.

the article reminds me of the line that hookers use. you know what i'm talking about, the one that "claims" the money isn't for sex, just for their time and that Surely the whores aren't deceiving themselves.

Likewise, there is some nonsense in the article.
