He lost me when he ditched the flag pin. How the hell is he going to lead the country if he's afraid to fly our colors?

In some way or another, all American's are minorities. America is after all a melting pot of nationalities.

He's been in politics for longer than Hillary.

Currently none of the Presidential candidates have foreign relations, good or bad.

I personally know of 3 little old ladies who will be voting for him in the primaries, and if he makes it to the ticket, they will be casting their vote for him there.

I'm a little old white lady, and I'm voting for him. Haven't you ever looked at the audiences that come to his speaking engagements? The majority of people there is made up of middle-old aged white people with a small segment of black people there too.

Sounds like you have it in for him. You should read his book, THE AUDACITY OF HOPE. You might be surprised.

Obama in '08.

I think you have made it clear that you don't like Obama by the many negative questions you have asked in the past half hour.
I agree he won't be elected president because he is a minority and America as a whole will never elect a Black president. If they did, the Black race as a whole would come up to their level and some prejudiced, hateful people will never let that happen.
I am not speaking to the ones who won't vote for him because of his policies. I am not even sure I will be voting for him. I just won't choose my president by their race.

There are only two kinds of people who really care that Obama is a minority: neo-nazi types who would never vote for a Democrat anyway and people who, similar to Hillary, have a "if not now when" attitude about a black President. And just like with Hillary that seems to be the main notion in support of Obama's candidacy.

Can anyone name for me one serious accomplishment made by Obama since he has been in office? What exactly has he shown in terms of leadership or expirience that would lead someone to think he has what it takes to be President? These are the same question I have asked the Hillary supporters and have rarely gotten a response that didn't include the word "bigot" or I get a response that has to do soley with views on issues. You should support someone who thinks the same as you, but you have to look at the person too; if they can't do what they promise, then what good are they?

There are plenty of black candidates out there who are more qualified to be President than Obama who has done nothing but run for office. He might be a great campaigner, but after all this is over someone has to govern. 15 years of Bill Clinton and Bush should stand as a reminder to everyone one that just because it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck doesn't mean its a duck. I want someone who has a proven track record and does more than just talk a good game.

Someday, this country should have minority and female Presidents, but those people don't HAVE to be Obama and Clinton, it will happen soon and it will happen when there is no doubt in the minds of most of the people in this country that that person is the best person for the job and not just a "representative" of a group. Going with these "stunt" candidates isn't ultimately going to hurt the cause.

Back in 1984, Mondale picked Ferraro as a running-mate, even though it was obvious to everyone that she was unprepared to take over the Oval Office should the worst happen. They did it as a stunt, hoping it would win votes, but it was handled badly and it hurt the ticket. Since then, there has never been another female on a ticket. At this point I'm kinda rambling, but in conclusion, find a real one, then we can get serious about this. Obama and Hillary are not Presidential material.

P.S. It has been suggested here that Barack Obama has more expirence than John McCain. Now, I'm not a McCain supporter (well, he's not my first choice anyway) but John McCain's record includes almost two decades in the United States Navy, a Silver Star, a Distiguished Cross, a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart (a real one, not a John Kerry Purple Heart), the Legion of Merit, 2 terms in the United States House, 4 terms as a U.S. Senator, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, chairman of the Seante Committee on Indian Affairs, Ranking Minority member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, innumerable pieces of legislation drafted and passed, recipeint of the Profiles in Courage Award, recipient of the World Leadership Forum's Policymaker of the Year Award, winner of the "Scoop"Jackson National Security Award.

Obama has a lifetime as a trial lawyer, two tours in the Illinois State Senate, less than one term as a U.S. Senator, and four years of non-stop campaigning.

What has Obama ever done in his entire life that would afford him the right to be on the same stage as McCain without looking like McCain's little baby brother?

Never say never.

His charisma is the biggest reason people support him, but that is not a good enough reason to vote for him for Prez.

His foreign policy is suspect.

We really do not have a good enough idea of who he is to put him in a Commander in Chief....yet.

There are a lot of racist people in this country who just plain won't vote for any one who is not 100% White in the first place.
One time when they were saying the Pledge of Aledgence, every one else saluted the flag and said the Pledge. Obama, just stood there looking like an idiot and did not participate. He would not even go through the motions of saluting the flag or any thing. He doesn't have any respect for our country obviously. Myself, being a vetran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, that pi**es me off to see some one like that run for office. I deffinately won't vote for the SOB!

People have a lot of misconceptions about him...one that he is Muslim and therefore a terrorist (1: He is not Muslim. 2: Most importantly, not all Muslims are terrorists.) Another is that he doesn't have enough experience, when he actually has more experience than McCain and more than Hillary in Congress.

You seem to have a thing about Obama - I see 4 posts on the same subject.

I agree he won't win. But if he can take some steam out of Hilary's machine, he's done his bit, I think. And she certainly has lost her aura of invincibility.

He is the most charismatic and likable of the candidates. I think he will be able to convince even the little old ladies to vote for him.
