What do you mean by 'choose my own hair'?? Do you mean you have to wait until you're 16 to style your own hair? That's really not fair. How old are you?

My parents wouldn't let me cut my hair short until I was 18 and out of their house. But they did let me put highlights in and dye it with a washout dye. Ask her if she'll let you do that, use a washout dye if you want to dye your hair.
As soon as I was 18 and out of the house I cut my hair short, I liked it for a while, but then I went back to having it just below my shoulders-which is what I like best now.

Obviously you think so otherwise you wouldn't have asked. Arbitrary age limits, to me, are kind of passe. Maybe she wants to make sure that you have hair that won't embarrass her -- my mom wouldn't let me dye my hair blue when I was 16, and now I'm too old to have it that way.

Anyway, keep your chin up. When you are 18 you can do whatever you want :)

what the flying french toast? im 12 and my mom doesnt even care. she was gonna let me dye pink and blue highlights in it untill we saw it was against my school dress code. i say that you should either deal with your f-head of a mother or if you want the cut bad enough then if you are alone with friends and have th money go for it then assept the punishment!

As parents we need to chose our battles. My daughter is 13 years old. I told her it is just hair. It can be changed on a daily basis if necessary.

She can do with it what she wants. She has colored it. (store bought by her and I did it.) Red, Dark Brown, Reddish brown, Pink, Blue streaked ect..... The list goes on. As for cut she likes it long and one length.

As long as she is not getting tattoos and piercing (she does have her ears done twice) what should I care. She gets good grades and is well behaved.

You are lucky! My mom made me wait until I was 17. I would agree to a certain extent with the decision. I think that until 18 parents have a right to make rules that we, as children, have to stick to. It sucks! It's life.

It depends.
If you want to go crazy with your hair and get weird looks from people then yes, it is a problem.
But, if you want to get a simple hair-cut then there really shouldn't be anything wrong.
Now, I know what you and most people are thinking. One should be themselves but there are somethings that are acceptable and not acceptable. Plus, if you think about it. It's just hair! It shouldn't define who you are.

No actually that's life. My mother told me she owned my hair when I was 19 years old. Just ask her and show her different ways that you can wear it. Maybe you guys will come to some type of agreement. Good Luck!

I don't normally stoop to trickery when answering, but tell her you want bangs, just bangs. And whn you get there, tell the hairdresser you want them long. Then all you have to do is sidepart your hair in the morning, and instant sidebangs!

Well, it kinda depends on how old you are right now. But if I were you I'd try to reason with her. She sounds a bit old fashioned. Oh and if u want to change your hair style, why not do something casual? She might let you do that...
