I'm not "hating" on Jerry Rice as I believe he is the greatest receiver to ever play the game but why is it that everybody seems to think that Jerry Rice's record in a strike season is more impressive? Yeah he got it in 12 games but wasn't he playing against a bunch of scrub corners? I don't know the exact details as to whether or not Rice went on strike as well but if he did play didn't that record come against replacements? Thus wouldn't Randy's record be more impressive?

Not to mention the fact that there is WAY more talented corners now then there was in 1987.

Randy's record will be more impressive because he's catching the ball with 2-4 guys on him. Did you see that game against Miami? He caught the ball over so many guys. Randy is going against lots of people, while Rice usually got at the most double teamed. The secondaries are also more talented than the secondaries Rice went against.

Rice was not playing against the scrubs in those 12 games. NFL players strike ended when Rice returned. Rice's record is much more impressive than any record that Moss can attain.

Even if Moss breaks Rice's record by 3 Td's Rice would still be my pick as number 1 because he got his record in 4 less games than Moss. thats not to say Moss does not deserve the number 1 slot. But with Rice in a strike year we never will know how many he truly could have gotten in all. either way though both are top receivers.

Yeah he had scrubs defending, there were also scrubs trying to get him the ball though so that is kind of a wash.

Also if the Pats have to go 16-0 to get the undefeated season then Moss should get the 16 to accomplish a record.

It really is irrelevant to me, I believe that eventually Randy Moss will be change the fact that Rice is the onlyplayer universally considered the best ever at his position. Moss will at least introduce the idea of a debate. But not yet and not because of this record. I mean ask yourself a question did you KNOW, who had the single season catches record.(I mean if you thought about I am sure you could have guessed, but did you ever think about it) No I am guessin' you didn't and still belived that Rice was the best so this shouldn't really matter. YET

Some say Jerry is the best Some say Moss is the best Some even say TO is the best They all have valid opinions and statistics, but I give my respect to Jerry Rice. People say Jerry Rice's stats and records are flawed since he played pro football for 20 years. But for me, that give me more respect for Rice. What Moss and Owens lack is endurance and love for their team. That led to creating bad chemistry and in the end, retiring. Rice is one of the most humble player to ever play the game. Every fans of NFL respected Rice, no matter how much they hated the 49ers. Jerry Rice is the greatest of all time. Jerry made Montana and Young who is they are, Montana and Young made Jerry who he is.

Hey Jerry Rice played against some elite guys as well as Randy moss but Jerry is better and his record is better because he never complained about the QB , he just went out there and played every week.

It was more impressive then because rules nowadays are very nice to the wide receivers, you cannot even touch him after 5 yards without calling an interference.

Most best feature is going deep because of his speed. I want to see Moss having a 1200 yd season when he's 40 years old and speed is history.

Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Darrell Green, Mike Haynes...why do you think corners are better today?

No. Rice did not cross the picket line and play, as some of his teammates did. He got 22 in 12 games. What alot of people don't stop to consider is the rule changes made since then. We're talking 20 years of changing what's allowable and what's not. And it's definitely gone in favor of the offense.

some day when both are either dead or creeping around on a walker or wheelchair, somebody will only have a list of names and numbers to see who is or were the best. jerry rice will be at the top of that list in most categories. rice was the better dancer, too.
