Musharaff's dictatorship will continue indefinately because he's the only SOB who can hold that country together. We'll back him 100% too, because we can't let a nuclear power fragment into chaos.

Nobody knows yet, its still unfolding. If Pakistan's gvt. falls there would be chaos, radical elements might get ahold of the country's nukes and then the US and Europe could be in great danger. It is very unfortunate that Mr. Bush cut anti-terrorism funding, this was a bad time to do so and it was not a good idea under any circumstances. What good will billions of dollars in tax cuts for billionaires be to even the super rich if the US economy collapses...It seems like for now the best thing tht could happen would be if the Pakistan military instituted martial law for at least 6 months. Sorry, but thats how I see it.

Pakistan has just been set back years. There is definitely going to be violence and unrest, but the democratic process is going to also be stumped for a while in my opinion. In terms of world politics, the current leader is already known and in relations with other countries, so the world relationships should not be too affected.

She was more of an Ally to us than Musharraf. She was the voice of anti-terorism in that country. Musharraf is trying to govern a country that is ALMOST ungovernable. Pakistan may fall into a civil war now, which is more dangerous than Iraq falling into a civil war. Pakistan has around 70 nukes, and the terrorists would love to get their hands on that.
