To Build A Fire?

what is the moral of the story in to build a fire

Great story - and it's short - you can read it in an hour

haven't seen it for 30 years

basically - guy gets property in Alaska - goes to see it
takes a hike with an employee and dismisses the employee
but keeps the dog

temperature drops to -50 (and since I read the book, I have in a grocery warehouse freezer at -40 - in 30 secs my persperation on my forehead froze)

he steps into water - and must dry out - builds a fire
dries out - gets dressed - he and dog take off
(forget whether the homesite is in sight, but not close)

get wet again - uses his last match to start a fire
BUT places this one too close to a tree and the snow loosens
and puts the fire out - so he has to get dressed in wet

which freezes - depletes body temperature -
so he runs to hurry home - depletes even quicker

and dies in sight of his warm house of the new estate

BUT DO NOT QUOTE ME - BEEN A LOOOOOOONG
time remembering this one - and as stories go - it may have been embellished - it's a quick read -
