That's what you hear from the right all the time. Do they seriously believe that by not having lower gas prices means that we didn't go there for the oil. Does the law of supply and demand make any sense at all to the right? Alan Greenspan himself said it was for the oil. Bushco has been planning this oil invasion long ago. They were even trying to do it again with Iran and their bogus US intelligence.

the main purpose was in fact oil - because if there was no oil we would not be there.
STATUS: MISSION FAILURE

Are you for real?? How you people think that oil doesnt make the world go round are gullible!! Why do you think we went to war with Japan in WWII.... They needed oil for their war machine. The USA had what they needed.
If you didnt have oil for your SUV or for your foreign import, you and everyone else would be crying because AL Queda and fifty other terrorist group seized control of it. Less oil, higher cost!!
Who would be responsible for that in our country....
of course, our American President George W. It would be his fault right.... Damn if he does, damn if doesnt. If it had been a democrat in office and we went over to Irag and went to war, would you blame the democratic President for that...
I think not!!! It is not the only reason we went to war, some good reasons, some not. Your slamming of the Republicans is what this is about and this is the same reason that I hated the Republicans for originally. Support the government or help bring changes by voting.
Dont fool yourself, oil will always be around, it may not be used to the extent it is now, hopefully. I dont want these people running our lives!!

I haven't heard that from the right at all. I respect Alan Greenspan, but I have to question his comments on the Iraq war being for oil. He made that statement, but failed to connect the dots, it's as empty an allegation as the rest of the tin-foil-hat-wearers make.
Speaking of supply and demand, if oil was cheap during Clinton's presidency, and we went to Iraq for oil, and we got oil from Iraq, then why did the price rise when clearly that would indicate an increase in supply? You might allege they were trying to squeeze out extra profits, but then if oil was low in price no one would complain about it, would they?

I think going to Iraq originally was SUPPOSED TO accomplish many things. I don't think whether the US went there or not had anything to do with the rise in oil prices. Always remember that everyone everywhere will continue to always be after "the almighty dollar." Because they are some countries,as long as they stay within certain guidelines, raise prices and smile like oppossums while the countries at their mercy kick.

Maybe it is the nearly 75 % less volume of oil that we get from Iraq today compared to before the war. We are recieving far less oil now, so where are the facts supporting the war for oil idea?

Based on Greenspan's logic, I can correlate any modern war to oil.
We don't use Iraqi oil because it has too much sulfur in it. How many oil tankers have you ever seen inbound to the US from Iraq?

If we use up all the oil that our enemies have, they will be weakened to the point of being political non-entities. Then they will have to buy oil from us and we can set the rules again.
