That all depends on what you consider old. I am 60. I am a senior citizen. I have health problems and things that didn't hurt before, do now. On the other hand, I don't feel old. I look at it this way, I still feel 20 with a few more aches and pains. Otherwise, I'm good to go.

Although at 44 I sometimes feel old, I try not to let myself think that way. With today's lifespan, I'm only about half-way done. I can do just as much, or more, with the second half of my life as with the first. That's why I've gone back to school. I'm taking nursing, and a love it, and I'm making good grades. I am going to fill a lifelong dream and call of working on the medical missions field. At one time I thought it was too late for that. I had chosen to raise 6 children, and it was too late for me to do what I want. Hogwash! Who says you have to have a career first? Raise your family first while you're the age to do it, then do whatever else you want. I have just as much time for this as I had for the first part of my life. And I've noticed that people who continue to work past retirement age tend to stay in better shape physically and mentally. Live every day to the fullest, and don't worry so much about age.

Hi Gladys. I hope you had a Merry Christmas! I am with you on this being better than the alternative! Happy New Year!
It is amazing on what we see as "old" changes the older we get. My Mother saved a report I did in grade school talking about my old parents who were 32 and 34 at the time. She knew someday that I would appreciate that. Old always seems at least 20 years older than my current age. LOL

I love it! For the first time in my life, all I have to do is mention needing something done, and my kids all come to the rescue! What a change from the battles of old, when I felt like hiding in my room rather than even mention that someone forgot to do their chores! And all I have to do is mention a roast beef dinner, and all come home, with their kids and spouses, for a great get-together! No planning, just spontaneous! The only downside, is that since we never know when they'll show up, hubby and I have had to resort to being more careful than when they all lived at home! LOL
Gladys--love your responses! You should have a column!

I'm like Connie, I am 65 and don't feel or look that old. I still do anything I ever did, and just as well or better. I also have a 45 yr old, daughter, and a 40 yr old daughter, and I too look at them and think, gee, how did I get such old kids?
I will let you know what I think about being old when I get there.

It depends on your health. I am a laid back person and I am not going to work out every day or keep a job to stay young. I do try to have a positive attitude and keep as many friends as I can. What amazes me is how did these years go so fast. It is true that the older you get the faster the years go.

I am 65 and I don't think of myself as being old. Old, to me, is
much older. I do like some of the perks like discounts in
restaurants and travel and I do take advantage of these. Also, social security. I started collecting it at 63 and it has
really come in handy at times.
They say you're as old as you feel. I can't believe my kids are now 31 and 29. How did they get to be those ages?

When I'm having fun...it's great. When I'm not...it sucks. Not much different than when I was younger. The only difference is that I no longer can indulge myself with drugs or alcohol if I want to live to see another day. I now must FEEL everything. Wish I had wised up in my early years, then my internal organs might be in better shape to assist my body to keep up with my mind!

I am 50 and besides a few extra aches and pains, little extra weight, grey hairs I need to color and a bit more intelligent...I don't feel any different than when I was 25....maybe a bit less stressed about life in general..I think I like where I am in life.

One of my pet sayings is: "I'm too young to be old!" At 52 I'm certainly not old, but my disability has me creeping around like I'm 92, and it's no fun but for folks being so accommodating and courteous. Thank you all. It is nice not having a busy schedule and sleep late, at the same time it louses up my sleep routine and I end up on Y/A all night! Poor me.Lack of activity means I can save a bunch on groceries, too. Now to structure my time so I'm not vegetating my life away...I know! 24 hour bingo! lol.
