Hi, i recently replaced the crankshaft assembly, installed a new cylinder sleeve as well as pistons and rings on my KX. Does anyone know the proper break in procedure? I have gotten conflicting stories, some say an hour of run time at no more than half throttle while others say to run 1 tank of fuel through it and consider it broke in. Thanks for your help!

I've overhauled more engines than I can count. For maybe the first 500 miles, be gentle with it but you don't have to baby it. Don't use full throttle for extended periods of time, short bursts like in passing is what you need. Like dating a girl, you want to go easy at first, getting to know each other. Applied every so often, the burst of power will help seat the rings. After 500 miles, you can be a little more bold, just like after you've gotten to know your girlfriend a little better. Now you can use more full throttle and after 1000 miles, it's time to go "all the way"!

just ride it like you stole it, worst thing you can do is glaze the cyl. wall by babying it
