Professor Trelawny told the prophecy and it basically means that one cannot continue to live while the other does.
Voldemort marked him as an equal and by that act made Harry the focus of the prophecy - if you remember Neville Longbottom could've been the target but Voldemort picked Harry

The prophecy was told by Trelawney. You know, the Divinations teacher? They don't say the entire thing in the movie, but the whole statement actually is "One must die by the other's hand for neither can live while the other survives" or something along those lines. Therefore, she's saying that either Harry must kill Voldemort or Voldemort must kill Harry; no one else can kill either of them. They really did a bad job on introducing the prophecy in the movie, because they only said a small fraction of it in the middle of a fight scene; for more info read the book. There's an entire chapter that explains the prophecy in detail.

It meant that Voldemort had to mark Harry as an equal. He did so by failing to kill Harry when Harry was but a baby. The eqaulness of this is Voldemort cannot die (until the Horcruxes are gone) and Harry did not die. Also, Harry is now a Horcrux, so it is Voldemort that has to die (Neither can Live while the other survives) thus he failing to kill Harry a second time. Harry enters a pristine, emopy world, comes back and kills Voldy

Professor Sybill Trelawney (Divination) is the one who told the prophecy. The gist is that ultimately, either Harry or Voldemort must kill the other one, and until then, they'll constantly be opposing each other.
Professor Trelawney's entry in the Harry Potter Wiki (link below) explains it in more detail, and better than I could. Hope that helps!

none of it had to happen it is just cos voldemort has to be the best there is in anything he does, harry could have lived his life happy if voldemort did nothing about it ,if voidemort had been told all of it by snape and not half of it things might have been different for both of them

It was told by Trewlany, and was then put into the orb thing, thats what they found and the Minisry of Magic. And what Voldemort wanted so bad, so he could bet him.

It basically means that one of them has to die. And if you've read the books than you already know who does.
